Teacher Workshop: An Introduction to the Science of Reading

In November 2023, Tarbert ESC was delighted to host Deirdre O'Toole of Playful Classroom to facilitate a workshop on the Science of Reading. Deirdre is a primary school teacher and PhD candidate who is an expert in early literacy. She shared the latest research and concepts behind the Science of Reading, giving participants an opportunity to reflect on how reading is taught in the early years. 

We look forward to welcoming Deirdre back in May 2024 to demonstrate lessons from the explicit phonics programme UFLI,
