
This is a five-day Department of Education EPV-approved summer course for teachers.
Tuesday 1st July to Saturday 5th July 2025.
An opportunity to delve into local history and folklore in a relaxed and fun environment. Teachers will reflect and plan collaboratively on how to bring local history to life in the classroom.
Most morning sessions will take place in Tarbert Comprehensive School.
Afternoon sessions will involve walking tours out and about in Rathkeale, Listowel and Foynes.
A schedule of the week's activities and locations will be emailed in advance to all participants.
Topics will include: The Civil War, Bryan McMahon Song and Story, the Palatines in North Kerry, Logainmneacha/Placenames, Béaloideas/Folklore, the Leslie Wood Walk, Seanchaí Listowel, the use of OS maps in the classroom, Middle Ages, using artefacts from What's in a Box?... agus tuilleadh nach iad!

All our summer courses are booked on the condition that the course fee is non-refundable. Course Fees are not transferrable to another teacher.
Unfortunately, if you wish to cancel your place on one of our courses or you are unable to attend the course, we are not in a position to refund fees.
In the event that the minimum number of participants required do not apply then the Centre will be obliged to cancel the course, you may be offered a place on another course or given a refund.
